This is not the championship table
IndyCar’s Dallara chassis is fully spec, so raw points mostly measure engine manufacturer and team execution, not just the driver. This ranking divides each driver’s points-per-race by how fast their engine manufacturer actually qualifies, then blends in the number that isolates driver skill from equipment entirely: the median qualifying gap to their own teammate, who runs the identical chassis and the same team-supplied engine.

Where these numbers come from
Points per race, divided by an engine-pace factor from the Engine Performance ranking — so the same rate of scoring counts for more from the manufacturer that qualifies slower on average. Blended with the qualifying gap to a driver’s own teammate, the one comparison that holds the car and engine constant.
Score is 65% engine-adjusted points, 35% teammate qualifying margin. It exists to order the grid, not to be read as a measurement — the number itself carries no meaning beyond rank.
