A genuine same-car comparison
IndyCar teammates run the identical spec Dallara chassis and the same team-supplied engine as each other, since engines are contracted to the team, not the individual car. That makes this a genuinely equipment-constant comparison — much closer to F1’s model than NASCAR’s same-organization-not-same-car qualifying comparison. Median, not mean, so one wet session or a crash doesn’t swing the number.

Where these numbers come from
Qualifying classifications from every session this season, sourced from indycar.com’s own results API. Each event’s “Combined Qualifying” session (the full-field classification across every knockout round) is used where available, so both teammates’ best laps are already directly comparable without a separate segment-matching step.
