What makes it different

  • Hosted the first race of the Formula One World Championship in May 1950, and is one of only two circuits on the 2026 calendar to have held a championship round in that first season.
  • Maggotts–Becketts–Chapel is a sequence of direction changes taken above 250 km/h; it loads the tyres harder than almost anything else in the season.
  • The circuit is built on the runways of RAF Silverstone, a WWII Bomber Command training airfield completed in 1943 - the current Wellington Straight is named for the aircraft its crews trained on there.
